Welcome to the Nerang Scout Group's
website.
Hopefully it will give you a little
insight into our Scout Group, wet your appetite for the wonderful opportunities
Scouting can bring, or if you are already a member of the our Group you should
be able to find up to date details about activities relevant to your section.
Nerang Scout Group is manned totally by volunteers who willingly give up
their time to bring Scouting to our youth. Many people incorrectly think of Scouting simply
as "knot tying" but our aims are a little more ambitious than that:
"... to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional,
social and spiritual development of young people so that they take a
constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as members of their
local, national and international communities."
We choose to use the outdoors as the setting so that we can fulfil our aims
whilst providing a high level of fun, adventure, activity and fellowship. Over
28,000,000 Scouts world wide can't be too wrong. To
learn more about the different sections of the Group follow the link above.
Nerang is a chartered Scout Group which means you are assured of receiving a
high quality level of Scouting
Cap Design Competition
Our Group is looking to create an
activity cap for use when we are in the great outdoors. So that we can call it
our very own we want you to design it. Please down load the
Cap Design Template, get your creative
juices flowing and draw your design on the template and drop it back in to your
Leaders. The final design may include ideas from several entries and I hear some
prizes are in the offering. Entries Close 15th of February 2009
Good Luck!!
New Activity Shirt
Our Groups activity shirt was
starting to look like something that Noah's wife had knocked up so it's time to
update. Our new shirt design is shown below. Order forms for this shirt can be
obtained from your Section Leaders.

Scouts Tower above the rest
An activity Patrol came together at
the den to work on the Pioneer and Explorer levels of the Construction target
badge on the 28th of July. One of their many achievements was a tower,

Gold Coast Region Centenary Camp
5 Scouts, 3 Cubs and 3 Leaders all enjoyed the Regional Scout camp held at
Mount Tamborine over the Easter long weekend. This coincided with similar camps
held all over Australia at the same time. It was great to join up with other
groups within our district and enjoy a fun filled weekend. Unfortunately it was
so flat out I didn't get a chance to take a photo so you'll just have to wait
another 100 years to be part of the experience.

2008 - Year of the Scout
The Federal Government has proclaimed 2008 as year
of the Scout to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in Australia.
This year you will see a lot of advertising for Scouting which has all been made
possible by the Government. (Incidentally when you see some of the adds take a
close look at the very first scene which shows sunrise over a campsite - that's
our Jamboree Troops site from the last Jamboree !!).
Throughout the year there will also be $0.50 and $1
coins minted as well as stamps commemorating the anniversary.
To mark the occasion Gold Coast Region will be
holding a camp at Mt Tamborine Showgrounds over the Easter holiday for all
sections of Scouting. If you are interested this might be a great time to
come and have a look at Scouting in action.
Scouts make front page of local newspaper
Grab your newspaper on the 1/1/08, don't bother opening it up because there we
are on the front page. Click on the small image below to get a good look at the
article. The distinguished gentleman in the backed row is well worth a look.
